Crone Fire Mushrooms

Crone fire is a type of bioluminescent fungus that grows exclusively underground. The light is completely invisible to normal eyes and can only be seen in the arcane spectrum, where it flickers like a campfire and is about as bright.

Witches and magical monsters cultivate patches of crone fires into “road maps” around their lairs and territories, over time creating signs, warnings, and even cave wall libraries of art, information, and entertainment for passersby.

Mashed into a paste and mixed with various potions, crone fire mushrooms can be used to create cosmetics that illuminate and highlight the wearer’s features. As the makeup itself gives off arcane light, the effects are gorgeous, terrifying, or as often as not, both.
